OKX is one of the largest exchanges in the world, with over 1,200 spot markets, deep derivatives, a respected wallet and one of the longest running monthly proof of reserves records anywhere. It is also, in 2026, a fully verified exchange. Its own help centre says identity verification is required to withdraw.
That was not always the case. According to the US Justice Department, OKX let customers trade without identity checks until November 2022. In January 2024 it removed Monero, Zcash and Dash. In February 2025 it pleaded guilty in New York and agreed to pay more than $504 million. Each step closed off something people used to go to OKX for.
The one sentence verdict: use OKX for active trading, derivatives and its wallet if you are happy to be verified; use CoinVast when the job is a coin to coin swap, Monero included, with no account and no documents.
Plenty of "OKX no KYC" advice predates every entry below. The links are in Sources, and the penalty is logged on our exchange fines tracker.
According to the US Justice Department, OKX let customers trade without identity verification until this point.
OKX announces it will remove 20 trading pairs, among them Monero, Zcash and Dash, saying they no longer met its listing criteria. Deposits of the privacy coins stop around the same time.
The pairs are removed. Withdrawals of XMR, ZEC, DASH and ZEN continue until March 5, 2024.
OKX receives MiCA authorisation from Malta's financial regulator, letting it serve the European Economic Area under the new EU rules.
OKX pleads guilty in New York to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business and agrees to pay more than $504 million, about $420.3 million in forfeiture and about $84.4 million in fines.
OKX publishes its 47th consecutive monthly proof of reserves, reporting BTC reserves at 109% of customer balances. Logged on our proof of reserves tracker.
✓ and ✗ mark what is better or worse for you. OKX cells trace to its own pages, its public API and the records in Sources.
This list is read from our settlement backend when the page loads, so it only shows coins we can take and pay out at this moment. Any two of them make a pair.
Over 1,200 spot markets plus futures and options with deep order books. CoinVast is a swap service with a short list. If you trade rather than swap, OKX is in a different category.
OKX has published a proof of reserves every month for 47 months in a row, with zero knowledge proofs and an open source tool to check your own balance. Our proof of reserves tracker puts it among the most transparent large exchanges.
0.08% maker and 0.10% taker at the base spot tier, lower with volume. For frequent traders that is far cheaper than our flat 2% spread, and we will not pretend otherwise.
OKX holds a MiCA authorisation through Malta, which gives EU customers a regulated route. If being on the licensed side matters to you more than privacy, that counts.
OKX's help centre says identity verification is required to withdraw. Once you verify, your documents sit in a database you do not control, held by a company that pleaded guilty to US money transmission charges in 2025.
OKX removed Monero, Zcash and Dash in January 2024 and has not relisted them. If the point of your swap is Monero, OKX cannot help. Our Monero delisting tracker logs who still lists it.
On any custodial exchange, a compliance flag can restrict the whole account while a review runs. After a large penalty, exchanges usually tighten their monitoring, and tighter monitoring means more accounts held for review. Our frozen funds tracker shows how long those reviews tend to last.
OKX's product set differs by country and changes when its regulators do. Plan for features, coins or whole markets to change with notice periods attached.
Our own fine print, stated just as plainly: CoinVast screens every deposit before the exchange starts. Pass means the swap runs and is final. Fail means it never starts and your coins return to your refund address minus the network fee, no documents. The one exception is a government sanctions list match, which the law requires us to hold and report.
A custodial exchange checks while it holds your money. We check before we take it. That is the whole difference, and it is why we never need to ask for a document to give coins back.
OKX charges 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker on standard spot pairs at its base tier, less with volume, with withdrawal fees per coin on top. On pure trading cost, an OKX trader pays far less than our spread.
CoinVast charges a flat 2% spread on every swap, locked the moment you create the order, with the payout network fee on its own line. On a $1,000 swap that is $20 of spread, printed before you send anything. No tiers, no account, no balance left on a platform.
Not to withdraw. OKX's help centre says identity verification is required for withdrawals. According to the US Justice Department, OKX allowed unverified trading until November 2022, which is why older guides still describe it as a no KYC option.
No. OKX announced on December 29, 2023 that it would remove 20 pairs including Monero, Zcash and Dash, removed them on January 5, 2024 and stopped withdrawals of those coins on March 5, 2024. Its public API showed no XMR spot market on October 29, 2026.
On February 24, 2025 OKX pleaded guilty in New York to operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. According to the Justice Department, it served US customers and allowed trading without identity checks until November 2022. It agreed to about $420.3 million in forfeiture and about $84.4 million in fines.
OKX publishes a monthly proof of reserves, 47 in a row by September 2026, with BTC at 109% of customer balances, and holds a MiCA authorisation in the EU. Like any custodial exchange, it can restrict an account during a compliance review, and its rules change with its regulators.
No. OKX is a full exchange with derivatives, margin, earn products and over 1,200 spot markets. CoinVast replaces one job: swapping one coin for another without an account or identity documents, Monero included.
Yes, on trading cost. OKX's base spot fee is 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker. CoinVast charges a flat 2% spread, printed on the quote and locked when you create the order, with no account, no verification and no balance left on a platform.
The risk check runs when you create the order, before any coins move. Pass means the swap runs to completion and is final. Fail means it never starts and your deposit returns to your refund address minus the network fee, with no documents asked. A sanctions list match is held and reported, as the law requires.
Yes. Trade on OKX if it serves you, withdraw to your own wallet, and use CoinVast for swaps you want to make without an account, such as moving into Monero.

Screening runs before you send, the spread is printed on the quote, and a deposit that fails comes back to you. Test it with a small swap.
